I really hope that Barack Obama is elected next President of the United States. For once, I have hope, that I can feel proud to be an American Muslim with a President that will lead us into a new, brighter, and better future for the United States. A President that we can trust… A President who gives up hope… A President who truly represents the American People…. YES WE CAN!
I understand being passionate about a candidate, but I really think saying Obama is receiving bad press after months of a free ride is a bit much. The things that came out today should have come out a long time ago – and they are legitimate things that he needs to explain.
Obama is running on the platform that he has better judgment, that he is an outsider, transparent, not one of the usual politicians. A land deal involving a known shyster where he got his house for about $300,000 below market value should be scrutinized. Don’t you think? Particularly since this alleged criminal is known for his political influence peddling activities. Even if the transaction was above board, it does call into question Obama’s judgment for being involved in the first place.
And the other news item, where Obama last week denied any of his campaign staff had contact with Canadian officials regarding his stance on NAFTA, has now been proven false with the emergence of a memo making claims to the contrary. Well, I think that needs to be looked at as well. It calls into question his integrity, and “saying what he means, and meaning what he says.” After condemning Clinton for having made a positive comment about NAFTA 8 years ago, then lying about his campaign staff being in contact with a foreign government about the issue, sure raises concerns in my mind about his veracity. Doesn’t it raise concerns for you? If he is lying BEFORE the election, what will he do once he’s in office?
In addition, he pledged a year ago to use federal campaign funds in the general election. Now that he is raising millions, suddenly that doesn’t look like such a good idea. When asked about it, he said it wasn’t a pledge, merely an option. So, after he takes office, shall we ask why we don’t have universal healthcare? Oh that was just an option. Why haven’t you renegotiated NAFTA? Oh that was just an option. Get the idea?
I understand he has created a movement, and his speeches certainly are inspirational. But it shouldn’t preclude you from really looking at his actions, and comparing them to his statements. I think you may find that there are some discrepancies. I only hope it is not too late before we are stuck with a discredited candidate.

This is truly THE MOST HISTORICAL moment of our time. “Tis true that President – Elect Barack Obama has a lot of challenges ahead, but we should expect (like what the Bible has taught us) that Hope and Faith will shine through.
